Chirag Patel, M.D., began his academic journey with leadership roles, awards, and Summa Cum Laude honors in Interdisciplinary Sciences at the University of Florida. His pursuit of medical expertise led to a rigorous four-year study at the University of Florida, College of Medicine. Choosing the highly selective field of Ophthalmology, Dr. Patel completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Richmond University Medical Center in New York City, gaining valuable experience in critical care. He then underwent three years of top-notch Ophthalmology training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his final year and earning an Ophthalmology Recognition Award. Dr. Patel furthered his expertise with a Fellowship in Medical Retina and Research at the University of Florida – Jacksonville, contributing to clinical trials, publications, and resident education. As an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Dr. Patel established Lake Nona Ophthalmology, prioritizing patient-centered care with compassion and cutting-edge practices. Married with two children, he enjoys photography, running, and sports, particularly supporting the Gators.
