David L. Blandford, M.D.

Dr. David L. Blandford, M.D., has a distinguished career in medical and surgical eye care, specializing in cataract/implant surgery and refractive surgery. Born in Kentucky, he is married to Jeanette Kelly, and they have three children: Alexander, Ryan, and Kristen. He earned his B.S. degree with distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 1981 and his M.D. degree with distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1989. After completing a Research Fellowship in ophthalmology, he finished his Ophthalmic Residency at the University of Kentucky in 1994. Dr. Blandford has contributed to over twenty-five medical papers and abstracts and co-produced a patented medication delivery system for treating certain eye infections. A diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is also a member of numerous pharmaceutical, medical, and ophthalmic associations.

William J. Curtis, M.D.

Dr. William J. Curtis, M.D., has been practicing with the Kentucky Eye Institute since 1995 and is consistently recognized as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumer Research Council of America. Born and raised in Frederick, Maryland, he earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1988 before serving in the U.S. Army as Brigade Surgeon for the First Brigade of the Third Armored Division, stationed in Germany and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. After his military service, he completed his Ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University’s Center for Sight and pursued a fellowship in advanced cataract surgery with Dr. William J. Collis. Now specializing in cataract/implant surgery, Dr. Curtis is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Evans KEI

Johannes C. Evans, M.D.

Dr. Johannes C. Evans, M.D., specializes in cataract/implant and refractive (LASIK/PRK) surgeries, with additional expertise in oculoplastics, or plastic surgery of the eyelids. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University in 1978 and completed medical school in Austria in 1986, following in his father’s footsteps. Returning to Washington, D.C., he trained as an ophthalmology resident at Georgetown University Medical Center, where his father chaired the Ophthalmology Department, and served as Chief Resident at the VA Hospital and D.C. General Hospital. He then pursued fellowship training in anterior segment surgery, focusing on small incision “Rapid Recovery Micro Cataract Surgery” at the Kentucky Eye Institute. A diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Evans is also a member of the AMA, FCMA, Lexington Academy of Ophthalmology, and KAEPS.

Aditya Mehta, M.D.

Dr. Aditya Mehta, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and retinal conditions, with extensive experience in complex eye surgeries and trauma care. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of New Mexico before completing his medical degree and ophthalmology residency at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Mehta has held key roles, including Chief of Clinic at the Warfighter Refractive Eye Center, Clinical Instructor at Texas Tech University, and Level One Ocular Trauma Consultant in El Paso. He has also contributed to global healthcare through medical missions in Panama and Guyana and by providing ophthalmic care for U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait. A published researcher and recipient of numerous awards, he is licensed to practice in Kentucky, Texas, and New Mexico and is an active member of several prestigious ophthalmology organizations. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and rock climbing with his wife and daughter.
