Alan L. Benedict, M.D.
Dr. Alan L. Benedict, born in Illinois and raised in southwest Florida, attended Loyola University in New Orleans on an academic scholarship, graduating Cum Laude in 1981. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1985, completed an internship in Internal Medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, and an ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University Eye Center, where he was chief resident in 1988. After entering general ophthalmology practice in 1989 and attaining Board Certification in 1991, Dr. Benedict completed post-graduate LASIK training at The Emory Vision Correction Center and has practiced in the area since 1992. With a special interest in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Benedict has been performing LASIK since 1995 and was the first in Cobb County to use the implantable collamer (ICL) lens for a broader range of refractive errors. He has taught his cataract surgery techniques to other ophthalmologists and has helped countless patients improve their vision.
