Dr. Smith graduated Magna Cum Laude from LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas, in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1987. After completing his internship at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, he pursued a fellowship in corneal research at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio and completed his residency at Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Smith, who has been board certified since 1994 and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, lives in New Braunfels with his wife, Lisa, where they are raising their family.

Dr. Joshua Levar graduated as a President’s Endowed Scholar from Texas A&M University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in Clinical Research at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, where his thesis work was presented at the 2004 American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in New Orleans. Dr. Levar earned his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 2008. Following this, he completed a surgical internship at Baylor in Houston and an ophthalmology residency at Loyola in Chicago. His research in ophthalmic pharmacology was presented at the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery in 2011. Dr. Levar is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
