Dr. Adam R. Thode, M.D., graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a double major in Biology and Spanish before earning his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he received the “Soul of Medicine” award and numerous other honors. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at Washington Hospital Center / Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, followed by his Ophthalmology residency at S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Thode furthered his training with a fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, New York, NY. He has researched the use of Optiwave Refractive Analysis in predicting postoperative refractive outcomes in cataract surgery and has published on strategies for treating meibomian gland dysfunction. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Thode is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and state and local medical societies. He serves on staff at Lancaster General Hospital and the Physicians’ Surgery Center-Lancaster General. Dr. Thode resides in the Lancaster area with his wife, Dr. Joan Thode, a pediatrician, and their daughter and son.
